Hattusa (also Ḫattuša or Hattusas or Hattusha) was the capital, during two periods, of the Hittite Empire in the late Bronze Age. Its ruins lie near modern Boğazkale, Turkey, (originally Boğazköy) within great loop of the Kızılırmak River (Hittite: Marashantiya; Greek: Halys).
