Chiapas (Spanish: [ˈtʃjapas]; Tzotzil and Tzeltal: Chyapas ), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Chiapas (Spanish: Estado Libre y Soberano de Chiapas), is one of the states that make up the 32 federal entities of Mexico.
