Merv (Turkmen: Merw, , مرو; Persian: مرو, Marv), also known as the Merve Oasis, formerly known as Alexandria (), Antiochia in Margiana () and Marw al-Shāhijān, was a major Iranian city in Central Asia, on the historical Silk Road, near today's Mary, Turkmenistan.
