Tuvalu (English: /tˈvl/ or English: /ˈtvəl/ ; formerly known as the Ellice Islands) is an island country and microstate in the Polynesian subregion of Oceania in the Pacific Ocean. Its islands are situated about midway between Hawaii and Australia.
